Profico History
Upon its creation, the young company installed itself in small premises at Rua do Borja in Lisbon not exceeding the 80 m2 where it performed bridge and crossings design having as its most relevant customers: Brisa, JAE, Ferbritas and several other road design companies, that outsource structural design. During the first five years of activity the number of employees has grown from four to eight.
Reacting to the sizeable activity growth, in 1997 the company moved premises to Rua Margarida Palla in Algés, a space of around 200 m2, so allowing the widening of its activities to the area of Construction Supervision and Current Structures Design. Besides keeping its reference customers Profico broadened the group of clients attracting among others Escom, Atelier do Chiado, CPU, VSL, AE Atlantico, etc. These new premises created the conditions to staff, equipment and commercial activity increase which lead to sales and profits growth.
In 2000 Profico decided to create an environmental specialized subsidiary named Profico Ambiente in which it, direct and indirectly, owns a sizeable equity majority.
In 2001 premises moved again into Lisbon to a space of around 500m2 at Rua Alfredo da Silva. In this same year the milestone of Euro 1MM of annual sales was exceeded. Capital stock rose to euro 150 thousand. Since then the company has shown a sustained growth improving its market penetration and maintaining a staff of 25 full time workers.

During this period Profico structured itself putting together a set of procedures ruling not only internal organization matters but also relations with clients and suppliers, won certification as General Quality Manager from LNEC and consolidated its position in the market.
In the technical field, ever more complex and of greater responsibility designs and studies were produced and a closer approach to final customers was established which lead to the signing of a growing number of direct contracts with those customers.
Client satisfaction has been measured during these last years and we may assert that our best expectations have been exceeded, which is confirmed by the constancy of our group of reference customers.
The company prides itself of never having shown any financial losses; on the contrary the return on investment has consistently and confortably beaten reference values for alternative investments.
